Our Story
A family of bakers,
an obsession with detail.
Palermo Bakery began with Giovanna and Gennaro Bruno — Joanne and Jerry — in a small retail shop in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Joanne ran the front of house while Jerry, a baker since age fourteen, handcrafted every cake.
Three decades later, that same family pursuit of perfection still guides every cake that leaves our kitchen — from local celebrations to wedding tables across the Northeast.
1987
Founded
Since 1989, Palermo Bakery has been creating custom cakes and specialty desserts for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and life’s most meaningful celebrations. Founded by Giovanna “Joanne” and Gennaro “Jerry” Bruno, the family-owned bakery began in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, where Joanne managed the storefront and Jerry brought his lifelong baking and cake-decorating experience to the kitchen.
Their children grew up working in the bakery from a young age, learning the importance of craftsmanship, customer service, and hard work. After earning college degrees and gaining outside experience, the second generation returned to help grow the business and continue the Palermo family legacy.
Today, Palermo Bakery serves customers from Palermo’s Café & Bakery in Little Ferry, New Jersey, while producing custom cakes, wedding cakes, pastries, specialty desserts, and wholesale bakery products for customers, retailers, venues, and businesses across New Jersey and the surrounding region.
